EMBODIED ENCHANTMENT: SHAMANISM AND THE CLOWN – Laughton Lodge, near Lewes, East Sussex, UK

with Vivian Gladwell

Welcome to this new course exploring the connections between Shamanism and Clowning.

Through a series of immersive exercises, rituals, and performances, we will cultivate a unique blend of shamanic and clowning skills that can be applied to personal growth or creative endeavours.

We will touch on the foundations of shamanic practices through the medicine wheel, shamanic journeying and our connection with the spirit world. Simultaneously, we’ll immerse ourselves in the art of clowning, embracing the inner fool, and discovering the power of humour, spontaneity, and authentic self-expression.

Shamanism is an applied spirituality. It is about how to live our lives here and now, and how to live in relationship to the other beings we share the land with.

In Shamanism, there is a particular interest in transitions, in the “betwixt and between” of places, in the cracks between worlds. It is where the veil between the physical and spiritual realms is at its thinnest that magical things happen.

Prerequisites for the course are Clown level 1 and 2.
