ONLINE CLOWN 2 – SERIES OF 8 WEEKLY SESSIONS – THEORY, PERSONAL REFLECTIONS AND PRACTICAL GROUP WORK
Saturday May 08, 2021 - Saturday June 26, 2021
Starts 14:00 on first day - Finishes 16:00 on last day
WITH VIVIAN GLADWELL AND ALI STOCKFORD
Further exploration of Clowning for anyone wishing to deepen their experience of Clowning. Sessions run each Saturday from 2 to 4 pm. There will be open discussions and practical tasks which will be done in small groups and reviewed in a larger group. The series of 10 sessions is limited to 12 participants.
Each week you will be sent an email containing links to the different materials (films, texts etc.) that we will be working with.
Our hope for these sessions is to empower people to do discover their own way through clowning and how to apply their learning in their work or personal lives.
This course offers further practice of clowning with the focus on structure and relationship (such as the Elder-Younger structure). At this level we practice responsiveness to and awareness of your partner on stage, your audience and the images, stories and characters that emerge during improvisation. The teaching method will emphasize finding greater insights into the techniques of improvisation and performance, providing enough challenges and inspiration to take your understanding of this work forward.
Prerequisite: Clown level 1 and a willingness to explore, play and discover
Our objective in this course is to present the key aspects that ground our pedagogy. It offers an experiential, playful and reflective introduction to these key aspects so that you will gradually be introduced and practice them through participating in group activity.
SOME KEY CONCEPTS
By beginning with “experience” we invite participants to give priority to emotions, the courage to express themselves in a safe way through games and in small groups and to trust their voice as their path to their own personal and unique clown.
After finding your voice (or discovering how not finding it may also be a gift) then comes what we call a reflective practice. This is where we “distance” ourselves from our experience to identify what is visible to us and to others. This process is both personal and social.
Our courses are focused on creating safe and collaborative activities and reflections as the best way to learn.
We believe that saying a big YES to what we feel and who we are is the first step to developing and practicing clowning skills. In our experience this approach is the surest way of connecting to our creativity.
We promote playfulness as the way to contact and trust what is unknown and unknowable both in ourselves and in others.
Each Saturday from 2 PM to 4 PM (UK time)
From 8 May to 26 June 2021
Fee : £375
