Welcome in the Spring with a one day taster workshop in Nose to Nose Clowning. This will be a light-hearted, playful day exploring creativity, connection and spontaneity whilst discovering your Clown.
Clowning is a state of playfulness that brings us to experience a child-like, naïve and vulnerable state of being. Paradoxically we grow, learn and are strengthened through reconnecting playfully with what makes us most vulnerable. This approach to clowning is not a technique (tricks, gags and routines) but a personal journey towards finding one’s own unique way of being a clown, by listening and being receptive, essential skills for any creative and imaginative expression. It is only when we let go our control over things that we begin to be surprised by the depth of what reveals itself to us. Come for a day of letting go and freeing up!

Facilitator : Alison (Ali) Stockford
Facilitating workshops with Nose to Nose since 2016, Ali holds this work in high esteem as a perfect grounding for all creative work and the bigger picture of trusting ourselves and life. Always on the lookout for what is authentically funny, touching and true to each individual, Ali enjoys creating spaces for peeps to step into the present moment in a playful and connected way.
Performing experience includes: tap dancer and comedy actor in café-théâtre with Les Amuses Gueules Lille, France; Street Theatre and Theatre in Education with Inside Out Theatre Company, Hastings. In addition to nearly 100 workshops for Nose to Nose, Ali has delivered trainings for the Giggle Doctors – Theodora Foundation, Lis’n Tell Speech and Language Practitioners, Quantum Marketing, London, medical students at the University of Bristol and social clowning at The Imaginarium, a writers conference, Cambridge. Ali speaks both English and French.
Ali would like to thank her mentor Vivian Gladwell for the continued support in the delivery of this work and to the Bataclown who originated and continue to inspire the way that we teach. Aside from Clowning, Ali loves tap dancing, TV comedy drama and the films of Jacques Tati.
