AN ONLINE INTRODUCTION TO CLOWNING – SERIES OF 10 WEEKLY SESSIONS – THEORY, PERSONAL REFLECTIONS AND PRACTICAL GROUP WORK

WITH VIVIAN GLADWELL AND NOSE TO NOSE TEAM MEMBERS

Each Saturday from 2 PM to 3.30 PM (UK time)
From 27 June to 29 August 2020

Course Outline:
Nose to Nose has planned this Introduction to Clowning for anyone interested and curious to discover the Nose to Nose pedagogy and approach to Clowning. Sessions run each Saturday from  2 to 3.30pm. There will be open discussions and practical tasks which will be done in small groups and reviewed in a larger group. The series of 10 sessions is limited to 12 participants.

Each week you will be sent an email containing links to the different materials (films, texts etc.) that we will be working with.

Our hope for these sessions is to empower people to do discover their own way through clowning and how to apply their learning in their work or personal lives.

No experience required – just a willingness to explore, play and discover

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Our objective in this course is to present the key aspects that ground our pedagogy. It offers an experiential, playful and reflective introduction to these key aspects so that you will gradually be introduced and practice them through participating in group activity.

SOME KEY CONCEPTS
Experiential
By beginning with “experience” we invite participants to give priority to emotions, the courage to express themselves in a safe way through games and in small groups and to trust their voice as their path to their own personal and unique clown.

Reflective
After finding your voice (or discovering how not finding it may also be a gift) then comes what we call a reflective practice. This is where we “distance” ourselves from our experience to identify what is visible to us and to others. This process is both personal and social.

Collaborative
Our courses are focused on creating safe and collaborative activities and reflections as the best way to learn.

Positive regard
We believe that saying a big YES to what we feel and who we are is the first step to developing and practicing clowning skills. In our experience this approach is the surest way of connecting to our creativity.

Playfulness
We promote playfulness as the way to contact and trust what is unknown and unknowable both in ourselves and in others.
