There are no small stories …when we embrace uncertainty and the unknown in our lives. Both clowning and Spontaneous storytelling invite us to befriend our uncomfortable relationship to unknowing and loss of control. Stories abound in this apparent void and reveal themselves when we begin to engage fully and playfully into that space.
As we become experienced in clowning, we weave together more and more of the apparently insignificant threads that appear in our short intense lives on stage. Small, unexpected details and incidents that seem not to fit anywhere are the raw matter of Clowning and Spontaneous Storytelling – and they become gifts to be transmuted into gold.
By cultivating a deep trust that nothing is too small or insignificant for inclusion into the tapestry of our imagination, we enrich and widen the range of our clowning skills.
The course is not about learning how to tell stories – rather it is about freeing our imagination from the “shoulds” and “should-nots” that constrain our natural capacity to tell stories. Stories are everywhere and the course invites us to open our eyes and listen and to celebrate this ever-present narrative dimension in our lives. Such skills are crucial to all storytelling.

We welcome those with or without previous experience of storytelling or clowning.
