EMBRACING THE UNEXPECTED – Clown 2 – a 6-day residential course
Sunday August 20, 2017 - Friday August 25, 2017
Starts 18:15 on first day - Finishes 14:30 on last day
with Ali Bowler and Angela Hopkins
This course offers further practice of clowning with the focus on structure and relationship (such as the Elder-Younger structure). At this level we practice responsiveness to and awareness of your partner on stage, your audience and the images, stories and characters that emerge during improvisation. The teaching method will emphasize finding greater insights into the techniques of improvisation and performance, providing enough challenges and inspiration to take your understanding of this work forward.
Level II is a pre-requisite for Clown 2, Towards Performance and Social Clowning.
Alison participated in her first Nose to Nose workshop in 2000 and fell in love with the work. Many workshops later and she is now a trained facilitator with Nose To Nose. She holds this work in high esteem as a perfect grounding for all creative work and the bigger picture of trusting ourselves and life.Alison is a qualified and experienced teacher of 23 years. She teaches and has taught Drama and Performing Arts in mainstream, special and older peoples settings.
Alison is an experienced performer. She has worked in café-théâtre with Les Amuses Gueules in Lille, France, Street Theatre and Theatre in Education with Inside Out Theatre Company, Hastings. Alison speaks both English and French.
Angela was born and grew up in Bristol, England. Always living and working in a creative environment she has always been fascinated by clowning. Many years of clowning experience with groups in Italy, Germany and the U.K with small scale public performances have enabled her to come to an understanding of the work with Nose to Nose. Angela´s background is Steiner education; a holistic view of the individual influences her work. As a mother of four children, after building up a centre with agricultural features for children and young people with special needs in a South German community, Angela now works as a foreign language teacher in Potsdam and is bilingual.
